Sea Waves

This project puts together the intricate blend of modern and traditional lifestyle.

Inspired by the ancestral houses in Carcar City, Cebu where this house is built, this contemporary structure is reflective of the vibrancy of its owners. The couple, who are young professionals, wanted something new and different but still maintaining some of the significant elements that are reminiscent of the well-known heritage of Carcar.

This house rises in a location with a breathtaking experience of nature and the uninterrupted view of the sea. The
structural design takes inspiration from the sea waves as an attempt to bring closer to home the relaxing effect of its breeze.

Its ventanillas and railings do not only reflect the centuries-old designs, but they also serve its intended purpose of enhancing the overall ventilation. The slanting railings, specifically, conforms to its surroundings of trees and leaves.

Another evident component in the overall design is the implementation of wood fixture on the walls. This is consistent with what is seen in the old houses in the city and a testimony to the wood furniture industry which Carcar is also known for.

The familiar look of the house entrance is another prominent reminder of that from a heritage house. It is truly a great
conversation starter right on the doorstep. While the entrance speaks more about tradition, at the back one will
experience modernity to a surprise of resort living with the pool.
